What's in the kit
Long, soft laces of mild black liquorice around a sweet, soft “marzipan” filling. The lace is chewy and gentle with a light salmiak edge; the filling is sweet and faintly coconut-scented, so each bite goes sweet, then salty-bitter, then sweet again. Easier going than the pepper-filled version, but still a liquorice-lover's sweet rather than a beginner's.
Appolo is Góa's liquorice line, made in Hafnarfjörður a couple of streets from our warehouse — the bagged liquorice most Icelanders grew up with.
