Akur — a field of grain. A children’s pullover from Ístex’s Lopi 34, knitted in Álafosslopi in the round from the bottom up: garden green with K1, P1 rib at the hem and cuffs, and a round yoke on light ash with two rows of motifs shaded from chartreuse green through amber heather and happy red to bordeaux heather, space blue diamonds and dots, and a folded light ash rib collar. The original design is by Guðrún Gunnarsdóttir; Védís Jónsdóttir redesigned it for Lopi 34. Three sizes, 6–8 to 12–14 years; all seven colours are still made by Ístex.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the bottom up. The body is cast on with 96 (108, 120) stitches in garden green on the 5 mm circular and knitted in K1, P1 rib for 4 (5, 5) cm, then in stocking stitch on 6 mm to 27 (32, 37) cm. The sleeves start with the same rib on 5 mm double-pointed needles and are increased at the underarm. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke, 144 (156, 168) stitches, and the 34-round chart — two rounds of green and light ash, then two rows of motifs on light ash, with decreases in five rounds — takes it to 48 (52, 56); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The collar is 8 cm of K1, P1 rib in light ash on 5 mm, bound off loosely in rib, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched down; the underarm stitches are grafted.
