Sambó Kúlusúkk: soft liquorice centres coated in a glazed milk chocolate. The chocolate melts first, the liquorice inside stays soft, and the coating is a darker milk chocolate than most — Sambó specifies at least 39% cocoa solids. Kúla is a ball, súkk is short for súkkulaði: choc balls.

Made in Reykjavík by Sambó (Kólus ehf), the family firm behind Þristur, founded in 1962. Milk chocolate 65% around a liquorice centre 25%, per the maker.

What does Kúlusúkk mean?

Kúla is a ball and súkk is the everyday short form of súkkulaði, chocolate. Choc balls, more or less.

How is it different from Þristur?

Same maker, different idea. Þristur is a wrapped mini bar of caramel, liquorice and chocolate; Kúlusúkk is a loose ball of soft liquorice inside chocolate — no caramel, no wrapper.

Is the chocolate milk or dark?

Milk, but a darker one than most. Sambó specifies at least 39% cocoa solids in the coating.

Does chocolate ship well in summer?

Chocolate can soften or melt on the way in warm months. We do not refund melted chocolate unless Shipping protection was added in the cart (terms of service, sections 9 and 10). A bag that arrives soft firms up again after an hour in the fridge.
