Lettlopi yarn - 0058 Dark Grey Heather

First time using the Lopi yarn and I love it.

I’ve knitted a swatch in preparation for knitting the sweater. I also knitted a sweater with the same yarn in a different color several years ago. Swatching with this lovely dark gray brought that earlier experience back. The yarn is consistent and pleasant too work with — no splitting or slipping. It produces a fine fabric with good stitch definition. The colors are beautiful, deeply saturated and complex. Since I’ve used the yarn in the past, I also know that it holds up well.My son wears his Icelandic wool sweater rock climbing, hiking, camping, and traveling and it,’s still in great shape. This is not a soft and fuzzy yarn, but a strong hard-wearing wool yarn perfect for colorwork and cables.

I couldn’t be more pleased. Lettlopi is beautiful (as ever), the colours are gorgeous, the yarn is soft, light and yet rustic. Lovely to knit with.

The customer service was great - they only had one ball of one colour i needed in stock, but found more from stores in Reykjavík.

The yarn price was cheaper than I can buy locally (even factoring in postage) and they have a huge range of colours.

They combined my two orders into one and gave me a refund on postage. Better still was the speed of delivery- the package took 4,days to travel from Iceland to my house in Australia. That’s much quicker than local Australian parcel post.

The yarn feels a little scratchy as I'm knitting it, but once I wash and block the sweater, the yarn gets very soft and fuzzy. Any stitches that looked slightly uneven seem to even out after washing, and it dried very quickly. The cost to ship the yarn to me in the US was very expensive, but the yarn is definitely worth it. I have a beautiful Icelandic sweater that is very warm and comfortable. Our school had an Icelandic foreign exchange student, and she always wore this incredibly beautiful sweater. I tried so many times to duplicate it, but with American yarns it just didn't look the same. Now I finally have a duplicate.
