Birna Björnsdóttir’s cardigan from Ístex’s Lopi 33, knitted in spring green Léttlopi with a textured round yoke: V-shaped panels of purl stitches outlined with eyelets, from one 52-round chart that also does all the yoke shaping. The body is shaped in at the waist, the collar folds over, and the edges — fronts, collar, hem and cuffs — are finished with a row of crab stitch in black Einband. It is knitted in the round and cut open at the front, and closes with 7 buttons, or 14 if you add a second row as in the photo. One colour version, in sizes XS to L. It starts with 3 knit rounds and 5 rounds of twisted rib (knit 1 through the back loop, purl 1), then goes on in stocking stitch on 4½ mm: from 6 cm it is decreased at both sides every 9th round, five times, to 139 (151, 167, 177) stitches, and from 30 cm increased every 8th round, three times, to 151 (163, 179, 189). The sleeves start the same way on double-pointed needles and are increased under the arm every 8th round. Body and sleeves are joined and the yoke is knitted from one 52-round chart of knit and purl stitches, yarn-overs and double decreases, from 227 (243, 259, 275) stitches to 60 (64, 68, 72); each size leaves out the rounds marked for it. The collar starts with 3 cm of twisted rib on 3½ mm; then, on 4½ mm, a stitch is made after every third stitch, the cardigan is turned inside out and 8 cm more rib is worked from the wrong side. The front is machine-sewn twice and cut open; 3 rows of single crochet in spring green go along each front, and a row of backwards single crochet (crab stitch) in black Einband goes all round the edge and round the cuffs. 7 buttonholes of 3–4 chain stitches are made on the right front.

Design: Birna Björnsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 33 (no. 23), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/L33_23_Vor_SpringGreenWoolSweaterKnittingKit_70793a2e-93fc-4804-b1df-17a19eef4aad.jpg?v=1791015372
https://icelandicstore.is/products/vor-lopi-33-spring-green-cardigan-with-textured-yoke-knitting-pattern
