The body is cast on in B with 120 (128, 136, 144, 152) stitches on the 4½ mm circular and knitted in knit 1, purl 1 rib for 6 cm, with 8 stitches increased in the last round; on 5½ mm it goes on in stocking stitch with the body-and-sleeve chart: a 9-round border, then the “lice” — small motifs in B, two rounds high, every 6 rounds on A — 10 (10, 10, 11, 11) times, or until the body measures 42 (43, 43, 45, 46) cm. The sleeves are cast on in B with 36 (36, 38, 40, 42) stitches on 4½ mm double-pointed needles, ribbed for 6 cm with stitches increased in the last round to 40 (40, 40, 48, 48), and worked in the same chart — 12 (12, 12, 13, 13) lice, or to 49 (50, 50, 52, 53) cm — while 2 stitches are increased at the underarm every 13th (11th, 10th, 13th, 12th) round, 5 (6, 7, 5, 6) times, to 50 (52, 54, 58, 60). Body and sleeves are joined in A for the round yoke, 200 (208, 216, 232, 240) stitches, and the 46-round yoke chart, with five decrease rounds, takes it to 75 (78, 81, 87, 90); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The neckband is knitted in B on 4½ mm: one round decreasing to 60 (62, 64, 68, 70) stitches, then 6 cm of knit 1, purl 1 rib, bound off loosely.
