Védís Jónsdóttir’s children’s sweater from Ístex’s Lopi 26, in its blue version: heaven blue heather Léttlopi with a round yoke on navy blue — small spring green crosses, a band of apricot arrows, big crimson red motifs, a band of mimosa yellow, and spring green again by the neck. The cuffs and the neck finish with a rolled navy edge. Body and sleeves are knitted in the round from the bottom up and joined for the yoke. The body starts with K1, P1 rib in heaven blue heather on the 3.5 mm circular and carries on in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm to the underarms. Each sleeve starts on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles with 5 rounds of stocking stitch in navy blue — the rolled edge — then K1, P1 rib in heaven blue heather, and is increased up to the underarm on 4.5 mm. Body and sleeves are joined on the 4.5 mm circular for the round yoke: a 38-round chart with a 6-stitch repeat, motifs on navy blue, and four decrease rounds — from 180 (192) 204 (216) stitches down to 60 (64) 68 (72). The smaller sizes leave out a few marked rounds, and never more than two colours are used in a round. The neckband is one decrease round and K1, P1 rib in heaven blue heather on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles, then 5 rounds of stocking stitch in navy blue that roll over, cast off loosely. Last, the underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 26 (no. 23), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi26-thida-cover-1_618fb3c5-cce8-415e-87cf-84a004cd8af2.jpg?v=1790994315
