thel-ribbed-wrap-cardigan-knitting-pattern
Þel — Ribbed Wrap Cardigan Knitting Pattern

Þel is Védís Jónsdóttir’s long, open wrap cardigan for women from Ístex’s Lopi 25, knitted all in K2, P2 rib in one colour of Léttlopi. The body is a single rectangle with two slits for the arms; worn, it falls into a wide shawl collar and long points at the front. It has no fastening — the 36 mother-of-pearl buttons along the lower edges and up the sleeves are only decoration. Two single-colour versions with the same amount of yarn, in one size, 36–44: dark brown in hazel and light brown in oatmeal. Hazel (1401) is no longer made; oatmeal (0085) still is.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two single-colour versions — dark brown and light brown

One size, 36–44

The crochet cast-on explained step by step

Yarn and needles are not included. At 50 cm the first armhole slit is made — work 62 stitches, cast off 40 and work to the end; on the next row the 40 stitches are cast on again over the gap. After 44 cm more the second slit is made the same way, and after 50 cm more the body is cast off in rib. The sleeves are cast on with 62 stitches the same way on double-pointed needles, ribbed in the round, increased 2 stitches under the arm every 12th round 9 times to 80 stitches, knitted to 50 cm, cast off in rib and sewn into the slits. Worn, the rectangle folds into a wide shawl collar with long points at the front. Last, the cardigan is rinsed and laid flat to dry, and the buttons are sewn on every third rib along the lower edge, 15 on each side, and 3 up the middle of each sleeve.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 25 (no. 19), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi25-thel-1_9eb268f1-7d09-4571-beb7-cb6b5db3738a.jpg?v=1790999113
