Védís Jónsdóttir’s sleeveless A-line dress for little girls from Ístex’s Lopi 28, knitted in Léttlopi in one piece from the hem up: a moss-stitch hem with a narrow band of figures above it, little moss-stitch cap sleeves, a round yoke of small figures, and a button at the neck. The pattern has two colour versions in sizes 2 to 5 years: white, with figures in spring green, sun yellow, pink and lilac, and light red, with every figure in white. It is a different pattern from our Teikn children’s sweater (Lopi 34). Sun yellow (1411), lilac (1413) and the red dress’s main colour, light red (1408), are no longer made; white, spring green and pink still are.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colour versions — white and red

Sizes 2, 3, 4 and 5 years

Two charts — the hem band and the yoke — with a key for both versions

Yarn and needles are not included. Eight stitches are decreased evenly four times on the way up (five times in sizes 4 and 5), so the dress narrows from the hem to the chest. At the underarms 6 (7, 8, 9) stitches are bound off on each side, and in the next round 35 (36, 37, 38) new stitches are cast on over each shoulder; these are knitted in moss stitch for 3 rounds and make the little cap sleeves. After 3 stitches are increased over each shoulder, the round yoke is knitted from a 29-round chart with five decrease rounds, from 168 (176, 184, 192) stitches to 63 (66, 69, 72). The neckband is 1 round in A with a few decreases on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles, then 3 rows of moss stitch knitted back and forth to leave a short opening, which closes with a crocheted chain loop and one little button.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 28 (no. 10), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi28-teikn-cover-1_5d29600c-ea5f-4618-ac82-a8b1b1d4aa14.jpg?v=1791000733
