Plain children’s socks by Baldrún Kolfinna Jónsdóttir from Ístex’s Lopi 26, knitted in the round in Léttlopi, one colour per pair: a K1, P1 rib cuff, a stocking-stitch leg and foot, a toe shaped with decreases at both sides, and an afterthought heel, knitted in once the foot and toe are done. The pattern has three colour versions with the same instructions and amounts — yellow, green and turquoise, all three pairs in the photo — for ages 2, 4 and 6. The yellow, sun yellow (1411), is no longer made; spring green (1406) and glacier blue (1404) still are.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Three colour versions — yellow, green and turquoise

Ages 2, 4 and 6 years

Yarn and needles are not included. Cast on 24 (32, 36) stitches; the cuff is 10 (12, 14) rounds of K1, P1 rib, then come 8 (10, 12) plain rounds. Where the heel will go, the first 12 (16, 18) stitches — half the round — are knitted with waste yarn (the pattern says “to holder”), slipped back and knitted again with the sock yarn, and the foot is 18 (22, 24) plain rounds. The toe is shaped with four decreases in each decrease round, two at each side of the foot, down to 8 stitches, and the yarn is drawn through. Last, the waste yarn is taken out, all the stitches round the opening are picked up, and after 2 plain rounds the heel is shaped like the toe. Make the second sock the same.

Design: Baldrún Kolfinna Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 26 (no. 22), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi26-sokkar-1_7a6befec-323f-4565-8c0e-9f06f8c8acbd.jpg?v=1790999713
