sjona-yoke-sweaters-for-adults-children-knitting-pattern
Sjóna — Yoke Sweaters for Adults & Children Knitting Pattern

Sjóna is a round-yoke Léttlopi sweater by Védís Jónsdóttir from Ístex’s Lopi 33, in four colour versions: white with black sheep and straw, and moss green (moor) with eight contrasts, for adults in sizes S to XL; black with greys and white, and violet with black and six bright colours, for children aged 8–10 and 10–12. Each version has its own yoke chart and its own border — above the hem and cuffs, just below the yoke, or above the cuffs only. The leaflet celebrates the centennial of the Icelandic Handicrafts Association (Heimilisiðnaðarfélag Íslands) and the publication of Íslensk Sjónabók — Ornaments and Patterns Found in Iceland. Three colours are no longer made: 1401 hazel in the moss green version, and 1413 lilac and 1410 orange in the violet child’s version.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Four colour versions — white and moss green for adults, black and violet for children

Adult sizes S, M, L and XL, with men’s and women’s lengths; children’s sizes 8–10 and 10–12 years

Eight charts — a yoke chart and a border chart for each version — with colour keys

Yarn and needles are not included. bottom up, starting with 3 cm of twisted rib (knit 1 through the back loop, purl 1) on 3½ mm; the rest is stocking stitch on 4½ mm. The moss green and the black versions have a border chart above the hem and cuff rib (15 rounds, 13 in size S, on the moss green; 10 rounds on the black). The white sweater is the women’s short version: a band of 14 rounds (13 in M, 12 in S) is knitted just below the underarm on the body and at the top of the sleeves. The violet child’s sweater is short too, with a plain body, a 12-round band above the cuffs and cuffs in lagoon. The sleeves are increased under the arm — more often in men’s sizes than in women’s. Body and sleeves are joined and the round yoke is knitted from the version’s chart, with the decreases in the chart: for adults 53 rounds, from 240–288 stitches (women’s) or 256–304 (men’s) to 90–108 or 96–114; for children 44 rounds, from 208 (224) to 78 (84). The neckband is 3.5 cm of twisted rib and 3 cm of plain K1, P1 rib, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched; on the violet sweater it is 3.5 cm of twisted rib and 6 rounds of stocking stitch in lagoon, left to roll. The underarms are grafted.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 33 (no. 25), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/White_Lettlopi_sweater_knitting_kit_ac203db9-8fa7-43ee-978f-bb92acbcc305.jpg?v=1791015252
