saga-lopi-27-colourwork-zip-cardigan-knitting-pattern
Saga (Lopi 27) — Colourwork Zip Cardigan Knitting Pattern

Saga is a slightly A-shaped Léttlopi cardigan with ¾ sleeves and a zipper, from Ístex’s Lopi 27, designed by Védís Jónsdóttir. Body and sleeves are patterned all over in bands of small motifs, with rounds of purl dots between the bands, and the round yoke adds a band of large circles. It is knitted in the round with a purl stitch at each side of the centre front, then machine-sewn and cut open for a zipper with two slides. Two colourways — Saga 1 in thirteen bright colours, and Saga 2 in nine colours from white and beige to greys, chocolate and black heather — in sizes S to L. Four Saga 1 colours — 1410 orange, 9264 mustard, 1400 camel and 1401 hazel — are no longer made. Another Ístex pattern in our shop, Saga án fléttu, is a different design.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colourways — Saga 1 (13 colours) and Saga 2 (9 colours)

Sizes S, M and L

Two charts for each colourway — body and sleeves, and the yoke — with a key for each

Yarn and needles are not included. On round 62 (65, 65) it is decreased by 16 stitches, from 169 (185, 201) to 153 (169, 185). The sleeves start with 5 (5, 7) rounds of moss stitch and are knitted from the same chart, straight, with no increases. Body and sleeves are joined at 233 (249, 265) stitches and the round yoke is knitted from chart 2, 50 rounds with five decrease rounds, to 90 (96, 102); size S leaves out five marked rounds and size M three. The purl stitches are bound off and the neckband is knitted back and forth on 3.5 mm: 7 rows of moss stitch in A, a purl row from the right side, and 6 rows of stocking stitch in lagoon (Saga 1) or oatmeal (Saga 2); it is folded to the inside and sewn down, or left to roll for a wider neck. Then the front is machine-sewn twice through each chain of purl stitches and cut between the seams, the zipper is sewn in by hand under the front edges, and slip stitches are worked round every other circle in the yoke — crimson on Saga 1, chocolate on Saga 2.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 27 (no. 5), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/Saga_wool_sweater_knitting_kit_zipped_A-shaped_6f36172b-292f-4e7f-a79b-bbfdc695b0c0.jpg?v=1791022079
