Védís Jónsdóttir’s round-yoke sweater for a 46 cm (18-inch) doll, from Ístex’s Lopi 29, knitted in Léttlopi in the round from the bottom up: little roses and green dots on white bands at the hem and round the yoke, folded white picot edges at the hem, cuffs and neck, and a yoke that opens at the back and closes with two small buttons. The pattern has two colour versions in one size, each with one ball of each of four colours: red — crimson with light red roses — and purple — violet with lilac roses, the same four colours as the purple version of Knúpur, the toddler cardigan from the same book. The roses’ colours, light red (1408) and lilac (1413), are no longer made; the other colours still are.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colour versions — red and purple

One size, for a 46 cm (18-inch) doll

Three charts — the body band, the sleeve edge and the yoke — with a colour key for both versions

Yarn and needles are not included. The pattern doesn’t say how to make the two button loops.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the bottom up. The body starts with 7 rounds of white stocking stitch on the 4 mm circular, a picot round (K2tog, yarn over all round) and one more round on 4.5 mm; this hem is folded to the inside at the picot round at the end, which makes a small scalloped edge. An 11-round band of roses and green dots on white follows (chart 1), and the body goes on in the main colour, A, to 15 cm from the picot edge. The sleeves are knitted the same way on double-pointed needles — 5 rounds, a picot round and 2 rounds in white, then a 3-round scalloped edge (chart 2) — and are increased from 20 to 23 stitches. Body and sleeves are joined, 96 stitches, for the round yoke: a 12-round chart of roses and green dots on white (chart 3), decreased to 33 stitches. After round 9 the yoke is knitted back and forth, so it opens at the left back for the doll’s head. The neckband is white stocking stitch with a picot row, knitted back and forth and folded to the inside. Two small button loops on the left side of the neckband and yoke close the opening, and the underarms are grafted.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 29 (no. 5), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi29-ros-cover-1_b18cd482-682a-43a0-8b9b-8919bd470e61.jpg?v=1791007603
