The instructions also use 6 stitch markers, and a sewing machine and thread to sew the elastic on with zigzag stitch, which the list leaves out.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the waist down on 4.5 mm. 108 (114, 120, 126, 132, 138) stitches are cast on in black and divided into six panels with markers; the skirt flares by an increase on each side of every marker, 12 stitches a round, seven times — every 11th round in size 34, with a few more plain rounds between them in the larger sizes (chart 1). After 88 (90, 92, 94, 96, 98) rounds, or the length you want, one round adds 24 stitches evenly, and the 23-round colourwork border follows (chart 2) — light beige and acorn zigzags around a black band of small white crosses, ending in white — with one more increase round near its top. The work is then turned and the white frill is knitted from the wrong side in eyelet lace (chart 3), with a wrap stitch so no hole forms where you turn and one increase round, and cast off very loosely in K3, P2, K1, P2. Last, elastic is sewn close to the cast-on edge at the waist by machine with zigzag stitch.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 26 (no. 20), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi26-pifa-1_e8e369a7-d4e5-4076-98a6-87f38bc37c57.jpg?v=1790994481
