The dress is cast on very loosely on the 5 mm needle with 312 (351, 390) stitches in A, and one garter ridge is knitted before it is joined. The lace is the same all the way up: five knit rounds, then one lace round in which groups of K2tog alternate with groups of yarn over, K1, so the stitch count stays the same and the edge scallops. Between lace sections, decrease rounds take 3 stitches out of every repeat, narrowing it from 39 stitches at the hem to 21 at the waist, 168 (189, 210) stitches. The colour changes on a lace round, from A to B, then C, then D, and the waist is 4 (5, 5) cm of twisted rib, K1 through the back loop, P1, in D. Above it the colours go back through C and B to A, an increase round widens the repeat to 24 stitches, and the body is knitted on to the underarm. The sleeves start the same way, from a very loose cast-on and one ridge, and are knitted straight in the 24-stitch lace, short or long. Body and sleeves are joined for a round lace yoke with two decrease rounds, three in L/XL — size M has its own yoke instructions and chart. The neck is decreased to 100 (108, 116) stitches and finished with 2 cm of twisted rib on 3 mm, bound off in rib. Last, the underarms are grafted and the dress is rinsed by hand and laid flat to dry, stretched to its measurements.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Ístex’s Einband pattern series, no. 2.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/einband-midja-1_c7782c95-8a76-4195-b483-4cc4ec3666a9.jpg?v=1790998842
