Design 9 is black heather with light gray and white: a white zigzag at the base of the yoke, small grey motifs and long white and grey stripes to the neck, a matching border above the light gray rib at the hem and cuffs, and a light gray neckband folded in half. Design 10 is pond heather with light forest heather and midnight blue, with striped rib and a striped neckband folded at a purl round. Every colour in Design 9 is still made; in Design 10, pond heather (9736) and light forest heather (0013) are not, and midnight blue (0709) is. The body is cast on with 118 (124, 130, 136, 140) stitches on the 4.5 mm circular: Design 9 in light gray for 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) cm of K1, P1 rib, Design 10 in pond heather for K1, P1 rib in stripes — 4 rounds of pond heather, 3 of midnight blue and 3 of light forest heather. On 6 mm one round is knitted in colour A with 14 (14, 14, 14, 16) stitches increased, to 132 (138, 144, 150, 156); a 9-round border from chart 1 follows, then the main colour to 38 (40, 42, 43, 44) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 28 (30, 30, 32, 32) stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles and ribbed like the body, increased to 42 (42, 42, 48, 48) in a round of colour A on 6 mm, given the same border with 1 stitch increased at each end of its last round, then increased at both ends of every 8th round for women or every 9th for men, 4 (5, 6, 5, 6) times, to 52 (54, 56, 60, 62). Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 204 (210, 216, 234, 240) stitches — and a 43-round chart with four decrease rounds takes it down to 68 (70, 72, 78, 80); sizes XS to L leave out marked rounds — 36 (38, 39, 41, 43) rounds in all. The neckband is K1, P1 rib on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, decreased to 54 (54, 54, 56, 58) stitches on its first round: for Design 9, 8 cm in light gray, folded in half to the inside; for Design 10, 2 rounds of light forest heather, 3 of midnight blue and 5 of pond heather, a purl round in pond heather as the foldline and 10 more rounds of rib, folded back along the foldline. Both are cast off loosely and slip-stitched, and the underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Anna Árnadóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 18 (nos. 9 and 10), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/Herdubreid_wool_sweater_knitting_kit_18_09_d66b602d-6999-47a0-b56a-7e7757a48fda.jpg?v=1791035774
