The body is dark denim heather; the light beige yoke has copper star shapes alternating with hollow blue diamonds, antique gold dots and small dark sienna motifs, between two bands of loden green and field, with a narrow sienna and gold band below the collar. The body is cast on with 116 (126, 138) stitches in dark denim heather on the 4.5 mm circular and knitted in K1, P1 rib in stripes — 2 rounds each of dark denim heather, dark sienna, copper, antique gold and light beige — with 10 (14, 16) stitches increased on the last round, to 126 (140, 154). On 6 mm comes a 9-round wave border of loden green and field from chart 1, then the body goes on in dark denim heather to 39 (41, 43) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 30 stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, ribbed in the same stripes and increased to 42 on the last round, given the same border on 6 mm with 1 stitch increased at each end of its last round, then increased at both ends of every 9th round, 4 (5, 6) times, to 52 (54, 56) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 196 (210, 224) stitches — and the 41-round chart is knitted: the border’s green wave band turned upside down (our reading of the charts), the light beige band of copper stars, blue diamonds, gold dots and small sienna motifs, a second green band, then light beige, a narrow band of sienna and gold, and dark denim heather for chart rounds 39 to 41. Decreases in the chart and evenly spaced decrease rounds take it down to 56 (56, 64) stitches; size S leaves out two rounds and the decreases of a third, and sizes S and M leave out one more round — 38 (40, 41) rounds in all. The collar is 8 cm of K1, P1 rib in dark denim heather on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, decreased to 54 (54, 56) stitches on its first round and cast off loosely in rib. The underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Gréta Björk Jóhannesdóttir, adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 18 (no. 7), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/Rosalind_8_petalled_rose_wool_knitting_pattern_df529055-ddac-4c97-a013-b3cd49f17383.jpg?v=1791035621
