For both: stitch holders for the underarm stitches (in both lists) and a tapestry needle for grafting the underarms — and, for No. 37, for sewing down the folded neckband.

How it is knitted
No. 36 is knitted in the round from the bottom up. The body is cast on with 124 (136, 144) stitches in light beige on the 4.5 mm circular and knitted in K2, P2 rib for 8 rounds; in rounds 3 and 7 each pair of knit stitches is crossed. It is increased to 132 (144, 150) stitches, and on 6 mm comes a 12-round border of small blocks from chart 1, then light beige to 38 (42, 43) cm. The sleeves start with the same rib on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, are increased to 42 (42, 48) stitches, get the same border on 6 mm and are increased alternately every 7th and 8th round to 52 (56, 60). Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 204 (216, 228) stitches — and a 41-round chart with seven decrease rounds takes it down to 68 (72, 76): staggered blocks, each striped in two or three colours, on the light beige; the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The neckband is the same 8 rounds of rib with crossed stitches, on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles and 68 stitches in every size, cast off knitwise from the wrong side and not folded. No. 37: the welt is 5 cm of K2, P2 rib in oatmeal, knitted back and forth on the 4.5 mm circular. One stitch is cast on, and the body is joined and knitted in the round on 6 mm, with three purl stitches at the centre front, to 38 (42, 43, 44) cm. The sleeves are knitted in the round from 5 cm K2, P2 cuffs on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles and increased every 8th round for women or every 9th for men to 52 (56, 60, 62) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 207 (219, 231, 243) stitches — and a 43-round chart with seven decrease rounds takes it down to 71 (75, 79, 83): light beige blocks beside blocks striped in dark denim heather, quiet purple, dark sienna, rust, antique gold, forest heather and forest green, on the oatmeal; the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. Two rows of machine stitching go into the purl stitch at each side and on both sides of the centre purl stitch, and the front is cut open up the centre one. The neckband is knitted back and forth in K2, P2 rib on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles to 8 cm, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched, and the zipper is sewn in. In both, the underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 18 (nos. 36 and 37), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi18-36-cover-1_a2803197-6443-4ed6-b88e-d6bc09482dc3.jpg?v=1791007457
https://icelandicstore.is/products/lopi-18-no-36-37-round-yoke-sweater-and-zipped-cardigan-knitting-pattern
