A navy border of small scarlet flowers sits above the hem and cuffs and in the neckband. The body and yoke are knitted in the round and the front is cut open. One colour version, five sizes to fit 110 to 152 cm tall, with the buttons on either side for a girl or a boy. The body is then knitted in the round on 6 mm, with 2 purl stitches cast on at the centre front: a 7-round border from chart 1 — small scarlet flowers with goldenrod centres on navy — then scarlet to 25 (28, 30, 33, 36) cm. The sleeves are knitted in the round on double-pointed needles from a 3 cm navy rib cuff, get the same border on 6 mm, and are increased every 6th round to 44 (46, 48, 50, 52) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 153 (165, 171, 183, 195) stitches — and a 35-round chart with four decrease rounds takes it down to 53 (57, 59, 63, 67); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds, and the top of the yoke moves onto the double-pointed needles. Two rows of machine stitching go into each purl stitch up the front, and the front is cut open between them once the button band is knitted. The 6-stitch navy front bands are knitted from the held stitches with a 3-stitch stocking-stitch facing that folds over the cut edge, and sewn on. The neckband is knitted back and forth across the bands and the yoke: a 6-row band from chart 3 — the same small navy flower band — with the top buttonhole in the band rib, then a navy facing folded to the inside along a purl fold line and slip-stitched. The underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Astrid Ellingsen, adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 18 (no. 31), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi18-31-cover-1_ea24cadc-4e1c-4472-8fed-3b5fbb6e5240.jpg?v=1791007304
