No. 26, adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir, is a hooded cardigan in midnight blue: a yoke of dark denim heather spikes edged in white, a white band of midnight blue crosses, a second dark denim band and small white spikes up to the neck, two slanting pockets, six buttons, a cut front and a hood with a braided cord. No. 27 is a crew-neck pullover in loden green with an ash and golden green yoke — golden green spikes, an ash band of loden green crosses, a golden green band and ash points up to a folded ash neckband — and a border in the same colours above the hem and cuff ribs. No. 26’s colours are all still made; all three of No. 27’s — loden green (9239), ash (9364) and golden green (9240) — are no longer made.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Both pattern numbers — No. 26, the hooded cardigan, and No. 27, the pullover

Sizes XS, S and M

Sleeve lengths for women and for men

The yoke chart for No. 26; the border and yoke charts for No. 27

Yarn and needles are not included. For No. 27: a tapestry needle for grafting the underarms and sewing down the neckband. Both lists name stitch holders for the underarm stitches.

How it is knitted
No. 26: the two pocket linings are knitted first, as small pieces of stocking stitch. The welt is 6 cm of K1, P1 rib in midnight blue, knitted back and forth on 4.5 mm with the first buttonhole in it, and 8 stitches at each front edge wait on holders for the bands. The body is then knitted in the round on 6 mm, with 2 purl stitches at the centre front, where it will be cut. At 12 (12, 13) cm the centre front is knitted back and forth on its own, decreasing at both sides to make two slanting pocket openings; the linings are knitted in behind them, and the body is joined again and knitted to 36 (38, 40) cm. The sleeves are knitted in the round from K1, P1 cuffs, in plain midnight blue. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 202 (210, 218) stitches — and a 39-round chart in white and dark denim heather on midnight blue, with five decrease rounds, takes it down to 78 (81, 84); the smaller sizes skip a few rounds. The underarms are grafted, and two rows of machine stitching go into each purl stitch up the front. Front bands of K1, P1 rib, each with a facing, are knitted on 4.5 mm; the front is cut open between the stitching once the button band is knitted, and the bands are sewn on with the facings folded over the cut edge. A short rib neckband, with the top buttonhole, is knitted back and forth across the bands and the yoke, and the hood is knitted up from it in stocking stitch on 6 mm, 25 cm high, shaped at the top like a sock heel. Its front edge is folded inside, and a 100 cm cord braided from midnight blue and dark denim heather is drawn through it. Last, small rib borders are picked up along the pocket openings. No. 27 is knitted in the round from the bottom up. Hem and cuffs are 6 cm of K1, P1 rib in ash on 4.5 mm; on 6 mm comes a 10-round border in ash and golden green (chart 1), then loden green stocking stitch to the underarms — 36 (38, 40) cm on the body. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 200 (208, 216) stitches — and a 39-round chart in ash and golden green on loden green, with five decrease rounds, takes it down to 75 (78, 81); the smaller sizes skip a few rounds. The neckband is 8 cm of K1, P1 rib in ash on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, folded in half to the inside and sewn down, and the underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Ragnheiður Matthíasdóttir; No. 26 adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir — patterns from Lopi No. 18 (nos. 26 and 27), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi18-26-cover-1_51cb9d90-3c8a-466a-929c-f5667a1a0aa9.jpg?v=1791007243
https://icelandicstore.is/products/lopi-18-no-26-27-hooded-yoke-cardigan-and-yoke-sweater-knitting-pattern
