Both share one yoke chart — small diamonds, a wide zigzag, a band of small diamonds, a second zigzag and spokes up to the neck. Design 24 is steel blue with a white and light gray yoke, a matching border above the ribbed hem and cuffs, and a folded neckband. Design 25, adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir, is white with a mauve and old rose yoke, embroidered after knitting with small lazy-daisy flowers in straw and French knots in field; it has moss-stitch edges, no border and a single rib collar, and is 2 cm longer in the body and 2 cm shorter in the sleeve. Design 24’s steel blue (9300) is no longer made, its white and light gray still are; in Design 25 only the white is still made.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Both sweaters — Design 24 in steel blue and Design 25 in white, with embroidery

Five sizes, to fit 110, 122, 134, 140 and 152 cm tall

The border and yoke charts with a key for each design, and drawings of the two embroidery stitches

Yarn and needles are not included. Design 24: the body is cast on with 92 (96, 102, 108, 112) stitches in steel blue on the 4.5 mm circular for 5 (5, 5, 5, 6) cm of K1, P1 rib and increased to 102 (108, 114, 120, 126); on 6 mm comes a 10-round border from chart 1 — a light gray band, a white zigzag and small white motifs — then steel blue to 25 (28, 30, 33, 36) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 24 (24, 26, 26, 28) stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, ribbed the same, increased to 36 (36, 36, 36, 42), given the same border on 6 mm double-pointed needles and increased to 44 (46, 48, 50, 52). Design 25: the body is cast on with 98 (104, 110, 116, 122) stitches in white on the 5 mm circular for 5 rounds of moss stitch, increased to 102 (108, 114, 120, 126) on 6 mm and knitted plain to 27 (30, 32, 35, 38) cm; the sleeves are cast on with 30 (30, 30, 32, 32) stitches on 5 mm double-pointed needles for the same moss stitch, then knitted on 6 mm and increased to 44 (46, 48, 50, 52). In both, body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 156 (168, 174, 186, 198) stitches — and a 35-round chart with four decrease rounds takes it down to 52 (56, 58, 62, 66); the smaller sizes skip marked rounds, and the top of the yoke moves onto the double-pointed needles. Design 24’s neckband is 7 (7, 7, 8, 8) cm of K1, P1 rib in steel blue on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched; Design 25’s collar is 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) cm of K1, P1 rib in white, cast off loosely and left single. Both are decreased to 50 (50, 50, 52, 52) stitches, and the underarm stitches are grafted. Last, Design 25’s yoke is embroidered: lazy-daisy stitches in straw, four to a flower, make small flowers over the white stitches of chart rounds 16 to 18, with a French knot in field at the centre of each, and more French knots in field go between the white stitches of rounds 14 and 20.

Design: Ásdís Hallgrímsdóttir; No. 25 adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir — patterns from Lopi No. 18 (nos. 24 and 25), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi18-24-cover-1_901bb48c-b18e-4016-81b0-7864da42976c.jpg?v=1791007337
