The body is cast on with 120 (128, 136, 144) stitches in the main colour on the 4.5 mm circular, knitted in K2, P2 rib for 6 (6, 7, 7) cm and increased to 130 (140, 150, 160) stitches. On 6 mm comes an 8-round border of white and black heather from chart 1, then the body goes on in the main colour to 40 (42, 43, 44) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 32 (32, 36, 36) stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, ribbed in K2, P2 for 6 (6, 7, 7) cm, increased to 40 (40, 46, 46), given the same border on 6 mm and increased every 8th round for women or every 9th for men to 54 (56, 60, 62) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke, 210 (220, 230, 240) stitches, and rounds 1–16 of the 43-round yoke chart — with the band of black heather diamonds framed in white — are knitted in the round. Then the 5 centre-front stitches go on a holder and a stitch is cast on at each side of the gap; these two stitches are purled all the way up, and the yoke goes on in the round, with smaller motifs and white tulip-like shapes near the neck, decreased in four rounds to 85 (89, 93, 97) stitches; the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. Two rows of machine stitching go up the centre of each purl column, and the opening is cut between them. A button band, cast on separately, and a buttonhole band, knitted from the 5 held stitches, each have a 3-stitch facing that folds over the cut edge; they are sewn on and the facings slip-stitched. The collar is knitted back and forth on 4.5 mm across the bands and the yoke in K2, P2 rib, decreased to 72 (72, 76, 76) stitches on its first row, with the third buttonhole near its start, until it measures 17 cm. The underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: Sunneva Hafsteinsdóttir, adapted by Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 18 (no. 17), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi18-17-1_4587c130-3ba7-4b0c-824d-2076fef0c914.jpg?v=1791006760
https://icelandicstore.is/products/lopi-18-no-17-brown-yoke-sweater-with-placket-and-collar-knitting-pattern
