In the photo it has a scarlet red body, purple rib at the hem and cuffs, a purple, black and gold border above the rib, and a yoke of purple bands, black and gold rows and purple and black rays rising to a red roll collar over purple rib. The body is cast on with 92 (96, 102, 108, 112) stitches in A on the 4.5 mm circular for 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) cm of K1, P1 rib, then increased to 102 (108, 114, 120, 126) on 6 mm. A 7-round border from chart 1 comes next — purple flecked with black, a black band dotted with gold, and short black dashes on red — then the body goes on in M to 25 (27, 30, 33, 36) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 24 (24, 26, 26, 28) stitches in A on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles for the same rib, increased to 36 (36, 38, 38, 40) on 6 mm double-pointed needles, given the same border, and increased every 7th round to 44 (46, 48, 50, 52) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 156 (168, 174, 186, 198) stitches — and a 35-round chart with four decrease rounds takes it down to 52 (56, 58, 62, 66): purple bands, black and gold rows and small purple motifs, and purple and black rays on red up to the neck; the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds, and the top of the yoke moves onto the double-pointed needles (or a shorter circular). The neckband is decreased to 50 (50, 52, 52, 54) stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, knitted in A for 3 cm of K1, P1 rib, then in M for 8 (8, 9, 9, 9) cm of stocking stitch and cast off loosely — it rolls over into a roll collar, as in the photo.
