In the photo, black shapes rise from the red into a black and white band, then small blue tulip shapes and rounds of green, fuchsia ribs, yellow, blue and green climb to a folded red neckband. The body is knitted in the round and cut open at the front, with ribbed front bands and 6 or 7 buttons. One colour version, in sizes XS to L. The leaflet prints only the colour numbers: black (0059) and white (0051) are still made, but 0078, 9303, 9212, 9010 and 9213 — scarlet, cornflower, apple green, bright fuchsia and goldenrod in Ístex’s Lopi 18 leaflets — are not.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Sizes XS, S, M and L

The 42-round chart for the textured yoke, with the key

Yarn and needles are not included. The body is then knitted in the round on 6 mm in M, with two purl stitches side by side at the centre front, straight up to the underarm at 38 (40, 42, 43) cm — there is no colour border. The sleeves are knitted in the round from a 6 (6, 6, 7) cm ribbed cuff and increased at each end of every 7th round. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — 201 (209, 217, 233) stitches — and a 42-round chart with five decrease rounds takes it down to 77 (80, 83, 89); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. Much of the black is purled, which gives the yoke its texture. Two rows of machine stitching go into each purl stitch up the front, and the front is cut open between them. The ribbed front bands are knitted from the held stitches with a stocking-stitch facing that folds over the cut edge, and sewn on. The neckband is K1, P1 rib with the top buttonhole in it, folded in half to the inside and sewn down. The underarm stitches are grafted. The pattern says the body, sleeves and yoke can also be knitted back and forth, with no cutting.

Design: Jóhanna Hjaltadóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 12 (no. 17), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi12-17-cover-1_d4b3a1f3-e89d-4cfa-9b05-4f0645ea9ac5.jpg?v=1791006461
