The leaflet gives two colour versions side by side, with the same amounts. No. 11 is red, with black heather rib and neckband and a yoke of gold and black heather triangles; No. 12 is black sheep, a very dark brown, with white rib and neckband and a yoke of white triangles and acorn-brown points. Both have a border of triangles above the rib and a folded neckband, in five sizes, XS to XL. The leaflet prints only the colour numbers; No. 11’s red (9389) and gold (9332) are no longer made, and every other colour is.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Both numbers in one pattern: No. 11, the red version, and No. 12, the dark brown version — one set of instructions

Five sizes, XS to XL

Sleeve lengths for women and for men

Two charts — the border above the hem and cuffs, and the yoke — with a key for both versions

Yarn and needles are not included. The body is cast on in A with 118 (124, 130, 136, 140) stitches on the 4.5 mm circular and knitted in K1, P1 rib for 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) cm; on 6 mm it is increased to 132 (138, 144, 150, 156) stitches. The 12-round border from chart 1 comes next, then the body goes on in M to 38 (40, 42, 43, 44) cm from the cast-on edge. The sleeves are cast on in A with 28 (30, 30, 32, 32) stitches on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, ribbed for 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) cm, increased evenly to 42 (42, 42, 48, 48) stitches on 6 mm and given the same border. The pattern says to “work patt from Chart 1 then change to M and at the same time inc” 1 stitch after the first and before the last stitch of the round, every 7th round for women or every 8th round for men, 6 (7, 8, 7, 8) times, to 54 (56, 58, 62, 64) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined in M for the round yoke, 204 (210, 216, 234, 240) stitches, and the 43-round yoke chart, with four decrease rounds, takes it to 68 (70, 72, 78, 80); sizes XS to L leave out marked rounds, so the chart is 36 (38, 40, 41, 43) rounds. The neckband is knitted in A on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles: decreased to 54 (54, 56, 58, 60) stitches, 8 cm of K1, P1 rib, cast off loosely, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched.
