It is knitted from the neck down; at every colour change the work is cast off and new stitches are picked up behind the edge, so each block is set off by a small ridge. The zip is not included. The pattern’s monet blue tweed (9735) and sapphire blue (9968) are no longer made; this kit has 1234 blue tweed and 0118 navy in their place.

Included

Icelandic Álafosslopi wool yarn — yarn for the largest size is included, so every size is covered

Knitting pattern in English (PDF) — emailed right after purchase

ADDI knitting needles — only if you choose the kit with needles

Álafosslopi — 100 g balls · sizes 116 (128 134)
A 1234 Blue Tweed (in place of 9735 monet blue tweed) — 1 (1 2)
B 0118 Navy (in place of 9968 sapphire blue) — 2 (2 3)
C 9962 Ruby Red Heather — 1 (1 2)
D 9964 Golden Heather — 1 (1 1)
E 9971 Amber Heather — 1 (1 1)

Sizes — 116, 128 and 134: European children’s sizes, named after the child’s height in cm (roughly 6, 8 and 9 years — our reading). The back yoke is cast on at the back neck in blue tweed and knitted back and forth to the armholes. The fronts are picked up at the shoulders and knitted down, with stitches cast on step by step to shape the front neck; 3 moss stitches edge each front. Then the navy body is picked up behind the cast-off edges of the back and both fronts, with 4 stitches cast on under each arm, and knitted back and forth to the hem, followed by a gold band and a K1, P1 rib in amber on 4.5 mm. At every colour change the work is cast off and the new colour picked up behind the cast-off edge, so each block is marked by a small ridge. The sleeves are picked up round the armholes and knitted in the round downwards the same way: blue tweed at the top, ruby red with decreases, a gold band and an amber rib cuff on 4.5 mm double-pointed needles. The neckband is picked up on 4.5 mm and knitted in ruby red with an amber stripe, folded double and slip-stitched down over the top of the zip.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 24 (no. 7), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi24-hlokk-haddur-cover-2_84b9a7fc-d80f-4c4b-9393-8c9c4bc253a6.jpg?v=1790997134
