Each side and its sleeve is knitted in one piece in the round, from the shoulder edge down to the wrist; a small back piece joins the two, and one button closes the front. The pattern has two colourways with the same amounts, blue roses and red roses, in sizes S to XL. Two colours of the red roses are no longer made — sage green (9422) and rose heather (9428); all the others still are.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colourways — blue roses and red roses

Sizes S, M, L and XL

The rose chart, with a key for both colourways, and a photo of the finished shrug laid flat from the back, with the neckline, the sides and the middle of the back marked

Yarn and needles are not included. Then comes the 61-round colour chart, an 8-stitch repeat with five decrease rounds, down to 69 (72, 75, 78) stitches; the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The sleeve is black: decreased at once to 46 (48, 52, 56) stitches and three times more by 4 stitches, to 34 (36, 40, 44), knitted to 36 (38, 40, 42) cm from the first decrease or as long as you like, and finished with 3 garter ridges. The small back piece is knitted back and forth from the waist up to the neck: 26 (28, 32, 36) stitches and 3 garter ridges, then stocking stitch, decreased at both sides to 6 (8, 10, 12) stitches, straight for a few rows, and increased again to 24 (26, 28, 28), with 3 garter ridges at the neck. It is sewn in between the two sides with markers at the middle of the back, and a small button and a loop close the front.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Ístex 25 years (no. 1, January), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/istex25-heartwarmer-1_40824831-8a2d-4896-a86e-cabe666f7df6.jpg?v=1791013332
