A round-yoke sweater from Ístex’s Lopi 34, knitted in Plötulopi used 2-ply (two strands wound together): grey heather, patterned all over with tiny black-and-white motifs — the pattern calls them “lice” — with a white border at the hem and cuffs, a yoke of black and white bands, and a white rib collar folded double. The original pattern is from Iðnaðardeild Sambandsins; Védís Jónsdóttir redesigned it and wrote the instructions with Hulda Hákonardóttir. One colour version, in sizes S to XXL. The body is cast on in white on the 4.5 mm circular, knitted in the round in K1, P1 rib for 4 cm and increased on one round; then chart 1 is knitted on 5.5 mm — a border of a black zigzag line and white pointed shapes rising into grey — and its 12 “lice” rounds are repeated to the underarm, ending one round after a row of lice. The sleeves are worked the same way on double-pointed needles, increased under the arm. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke, with the centre front stitch placed above or between the lice below. Chart 2 has 46 rounds and four decrease rounds, from 204 (216, 228, 240, 252) stitches to 68 (72, 76, 80, 84); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The collar is white: one round with decreases on 4.5 mm, 8 cm of K1, P1 rib, bound off loosely in rib, folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched in place.

Original pattern: Iðnaðardeild Sambandsins.
