The body is cast on with 132 (142, 152) stitches in grey on 3.5 mm and knitted in K1, P1 rib for 3.5 (4, 4) cm; on 4.5 mm comes a 3-round band of grey checks (chart 1), then white to 31 (34, 37) cm. The sleeves start the same way on double-pointed needles — 34 (34, 36) stitches of grey rib, increased to 36 (38, 40), and the check band — and are increased at the underarm to 50 (50, 52) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined, with 8 (8, 9) stitches on holders at each underarm, and the yoke — 200 (210, 220) stitches — is knitted from a 38-round chart with six decrease rounds, down to 80 (84, 88); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The neckband is decreased to 66 (68, 72) stitches on 3.5 mm and knitted in K1, P1 rib, 2.5 (3, 3) cm in grey and 3 (3.5, 3.5) cm in white, bound off loosely, folded to the inside and backstitched down. The underarm stitches are grafted.

Design: G.
