Stitch holders, a sewing machine for stitching the steek before it is cut, sewing thread to match for the zip, and a tapestry needle for grafting and sewing down the neckband — the instructions use them, but the list leaves them out.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the bottom up, with two purl stitches at the centre front — a steek — that are machine-stitched and cut open at the end. The body is cast on in B with 123 (129, 135, 141, 147, 153) stitches on the 4½ mm circular and knitted back and forth in moss stitch for 5 rows; on 6 mm, 2 purl stitches are cast on and the body is joined into a round of 125 (131, 137, 143, 149, 155). The 12-round border chart comes first, then A in stocking stitch to 38 (39, 40, 41, 42, 43) cm. The sleeves are cast on in B with 34 (34, 36, 36, 38, 38) stitches on 4½ mm double-pointed needles, knitted in moss stitch for 5 rounds, and get the same border on 6 mm; then in A, 2 stitches are increased — 1 after the first and 1 before the last stitch of the round — every 9th round, 7 (8, 8, 9, 9, 10) times, to 48 (50, 52, 54, 56, 58), and the sleeve is knitted to 48 (49, 50, 51, 52, 53) cm. Body and sleeves are joined in A for the round yoke, 187 (199, 205, 211, 217, 229) stitches, and the yoke chart, with four decrease rounds, takes it to 65 (69, 71, 73, 75, 79) — sizes XS to XL leave out marked rounds, so the chart is 33 (34, 35, 37, 38, 39) rounds. For the neckband, on 4½ mm, the purl stitches are bound off and one round in D decreases to 59 (61, 61, 63, 65, 67) stitches; it is then knitted back and forth in knit 1, purl 1 rib — 2 rows in D, 3 in A, 2 in B — followed in B by a purl row from the right side to fold on and 7 rows of stocking stitch, and bound off. The underarms are grafted; the steek is machine-stitched with small straight stitches twice into each purl stitch and cut between; the zip is sewn in by hand, and the neckband is folded in half to the inside over the end of the zip.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 25 (no. 18), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/L25_EN_18_Fugl_1-585x798_c6de6b11-d757-4bf1-b7ff-60470d82730c.jpg?v=1791034840
