frost-hooded-zip-cardigan-knitting-pattern
Frost — Hooded Zip Cardigan Knitting Pattern

Frost is a hooded zip cardigan from Ístex’s Lopi 29, designed by Védís Jónsdóttir and knitted in Álafosslopi. It is knitted in the round with a purl stitch at each side of the centre front, then machine-sewn and cut open for a zipper with two slides. The round yoke has a zigzag band at its base and larger motifs above it, a border of small crosses sits above the hem and cuffs, and the hood is knitted on from the neckband, with a cord drawn through two eyelets. Two colour versions — black (black tweed with light grey and white) and brown (beige tweed with black sheep and acorn) — in sizes S to XXL, with men’s and women’s sleeve lengths. Beige tweed (9976), the brown version’s main colour, is no longer made by Ístex; our beige tweed kit uses it from our remaining stock.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colour versions — black and brown

Sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL, with men’s and women’s sleeve lengths

Two charts — the border above the hem and cuffs, and the yoke — with a key for both colours

Yarn and needles are not included. The sleeves start with 4 cm of rib in B on double-pointed needles; 2 (4, 4, 2, 2) stitches are increased evenly above the rib, the same border follows, and then 1 stitch is increased after the first and 1 before the last stitch of the round 6 (6, 7, 8, 9) times — every 11th (11th, 10th, 9th, 8th) round for the men’s length, every 10th (10th, 9th, 8th, 7th) for the women’s — to 48 (52, 54, 56, 58) stitches. Body and sleeves are joined and the round yoke is knitted from chart 2, 42 rounds with five decrease rounds, from 187 (203, 211, 219, 227) stitches to 73 (79, 82, 85, 88); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The purl stitches are bound off and the neckband is 3 cm of K1, P1 rib in B, knitted back and forth on 4.5 mm. The hood carries on from it in B, back and forth in stocking stitch on 6 mm, with an eyelet near each front edge and increases at the back, to 26 cm; its top is shaped with short rows, a 13-stitch centre panel taking in the side stitches. Then the front is machine-sewn twice through each chain of purl stitches and cut between the seams, the zipper is sewn in under the front edges, the 5-stitch front edge of the hood is folded in and sewn down, and the cord is drawn through the eyelets.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 29 (no. 10), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/L29_10_Frost_Beige_Tweed_Wool_sweater_with_hood_Knitting_Kit_18414c24-ca35-49cc-80ab-cb0734b7e94a.jpg?v=1791020233
