Védís Jónsdóttir’s long jacket for women from Ístex’s Lopi 29: slightly waisted, with a round yoke, folded hems and crochet borders with button loops, covered from hem to neck in bands of pattern. The ground is one strand of Álafosslopi; most pattern colours are two strands of Léttlopi held together, so each band blends two shades. Body and sleeves are knitted in the round and the front is cut open. The pattern has two versions in sizes S, M and L: Black-Colorful — black with bands in thirteen bright colours — and Black heather-Earth, in greys, beiges, stone blue, murky and frostbite on black heather. Every colour in the earth version is still made; in the colourful one, fire red (9738), monet blue (9735), lilac (1413), orange (1410) and mustard (9264) are not.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colour versions — Black-Colorful and Black heather-Earth

Sizes S, M and L

Four charts for each version — body, sleeves, yoke and neckband — with a colour key for each

Yarn and needles are not included. The body hem starts with 5 rows of stocking stitch in a single strand of Léttlopi on the 6 mm needle — the facing, in violet for Black-Colorful or frostbite for Black heather-Earth — then, in the Álafosslopi ground, a garter ridge to fold along and 5 rows of stocking stitch, all back and forth; then 2 purl stitches are cast on at the front for the steek, and the body is joined and knitted in the round on 7 mm from a 78-round chart. At round 45, 15 stitches are decreased for the waist, and at round 67, 10 are increased again. The sleeves start the same way in the round on double-pointed needles, with a facing in crimson (colourful) or stone blue (earth) and a purl round to fold along, and are increased 4 or 5 times up their 65-round chart. The smaller sizes leave out a few marked rounds. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke: a 30-round chart with six decrease rounds, from 162 (172, 182) down to 66 (70, 74) stitches. The neckband, on 5 mm, has a 6-round pattern, a fold ridge in two strands and a facing in one strand of lagoon (colourful) or grey (earth). The front is machine-sewn and cut open; both fronts get 2 rows of single crochet in the ground colour, with 7 button loops on the right front, and the hems are folded to the inside and slip-stitched down.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 29 (no. 2), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi29-endurreisn-cover-1_aa2b69c3-d2be-4cb4-8684-230397ddb9de.jpg?v=1791006165
