elding-pink-lace-cardigan-knitting-kit
Elding — Pink Lace Cardigan Knitting Kit

Elding — lightning. Védís Jónsdóttir’s lace cardigan from Ístex’s Lopi 29, in its pink version: an open-front women’s cardigan in sunset rose heather Plötulopi, knitted with two strands held together. Zigzag lace lines run up the back, fronts and sleeves, the sleeves end in wide lace cuffs, and a big lace collar stands up at the neck and ripples down both fronts to the hem. It is knitted in pieces and sewn together on the outside with pink heather Léttlopi, so the seams show. The pattern calls this pink “berry” (1425); it is the same colour code, now sold as sunset rose heather.

Included

Icelandic Plötulopi and Léttlopi wool yarn — 7 plates of Plötulopi for the knitting (enough for the largest size, knitted with two strands together) and 1 ball of Léttlopi for sewing up

Knitting pattern in English (PDF) — emailed right after purchase

ADDI knitting needles — only if you choose the kit with needles

Plötulopi — 100 g plates · sizes S (M L)
A 1425 Sunset Rose Heather — 6 (6 7)

Léttlopi — 50 g balls · sizes S (M L)
B 1412 Pink Heather — 1 (1 1)

Sizes

S

M

L

Chest

92 cm
36¼″

98 cm
38½″

105 cm
41¼″

Length at centre back

58 cm
22¾″

59 cm
23¼″

61 cm
24″

Sleeve length as printed — incl. the raglan top (our reading)

68 cm
26¾″

69 cm
27¼″

71 cm
28″

Gauge
12 sts × 18 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch on 6.5 mm needles, with two strands of Plötulopi held together. Each piece starts with garter ridges and a 13-row lace border; on the sleeves this makes a wide, flared cuff that is then decreased by about half. The back has a column of eyelets at the centre with a zigzag lace line on each side; the fronts and sleeves have zigzag lace lines. The waist shaping is in the charts; the pieces are shaped for raglan sleeves, and the fronts slope in towards the neck. The pieces are sewn together from the right side in backstitch with Léttlopi, with the edges showing. Last, stitches are picked up along both fronts and round the neck on a 5.5 mm circular, almost doubled with a row of K1, yo, and knitted in the same lace border — the collar, which stands up at the neck and ripples down both fronts.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 29 (no. 1), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi29-elding-1_4f79c157-0a15-4bfb-ab3a-c3bf74267955.jpg?v=1790984503
