Body and sleeves are knitted in the round, the front is cut open, and it closes with 7 small buttons. The pattern has two versions with the same motif colours, in sizes 6 to 10 years: white, with a white hood, and burgundy — a dark wine ground with a lilac hood. Lilac (1413), light red (1408), orange (1410) and sun yellow (1411) are no longer made, nor is dark wine (9417); the white ground and the other four motif colours still are.

What you get

The knitting pattern in English (PDF), emailed right after purchase — nothing is posted

Two colour versions — white and burgundy

Sizes 6, 8 and 10 years

Three charts — body, sleeve and yoke — with one colour key for both versions

Yarn and needles are not included. On 4.5 mm, 2 purl stitches are cast on at the front for the steek, and the body is joined and knitted in the round from chart 1 — big hearts above the hem, then rows of small chevrons, crosses and motifs in eight colours. Sizes 6 and 8 leave out the marked parts of the charts. The sleeves start with 5 rounds of moss stitch on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles and are knitted from chart 2, with 2 stitches increased every 8th round. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke: a 39-round chart with a row of big hearts and smaller motifs, with six decrease rounds worked in the chart. The front is machine-sewn, the moss-stitch bands are knitted from the held stitches with a 3-stitch facing, and then the front is cut open and the bands sewn on, so the facing covers the cut edge. A moss-stitch neckband follows, then the hood — white for the white version, lilac for the burgundy one — knitted back and forth and grafted at the top.

Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 26 (no. 1), Ístex.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1662/1057/files/lopi26-asa-cover-1_52f8e2ba-8f17-4b02-a3ac-21a4cd3decb5.jpg?v=1791006043
