The hem, cuffs and neckband are a two-round rib: a knit round, then a round of K1, P1, repeated. The body is cast on in space blue on the 5½ mm needle, ribbed for 5½ cm, increased by 4 stitches on 6 mm to 120 (128, 136, 144, 152) and knitted straight to 42 (43, 44, 45, 46) cm. The sleeves are cast on with 32 (34, 36, 38, 38) stitches on 5½ mm double-pointed needles, ribbed for 5½ cm and increased at the underarm on 6 mm to 46 (48, 52, 56, 58) stitches, to 49 (50, 51, 52, 53) cm. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke: a 42-round chart with four decrease rounds, from 180 (192, 204, 216, 228) stitches to 60 (64, 68, 72, 76); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. The neckband is a decrease round and 4 (4, 4, 6, 6) rounds of the same rib on 5½ mm, bound off loosely.
